Why Counseling?
When I introduce myself as a counselor to people, typically they react with curiosity. There are many misconceptions about what counselors do and who goes to counseling.
Many people assume that the people I see are pretty dysfunctional and barely able to make it in life. They are a little surprised when I tell them the people who come to me for counseling are typically very competent people with responsible jobs, who have families and friends, and who basically function very well.
Of course, all of my clients see me because some aspect of their life is not working as well as they would like. It could be with regards to their relationship with their spouse or a family member, or they simply may not be feeling well about themselves. They may be feeling despair, anxiety, loneliness, and want to feel better, hoping that this is possible. They do not want to resign themselves to a life of discontent and unhappiness.
They may have been to their doctor and found that medication does not really solve their problems.
I can help you take a fresh look at what is happening in your life
I have dedicated myself to this profession and nearly 40 years of experience to bring to the table.
I begin by being an attentive listener who above all else wants to understand where you are coming from. We will begin by getting your story, your questions, your riddles correct.
This, in itself, can be a great relief to be properly understood. Once you have confirmed my understanding is correct, then we will move forward. And the adventure begins…
